UNITS, MEASUREMENTS & LIMITS

Estimate from the inputs you can explain.

Two focused engineering estimates for storage and pipeline time. Bring measured inputs, preserve the units and see the formula behind each result.

01

Raw row storage estimate

Estimate decimal gigabytes from row count, average bytes and an overhead multiplier.

Enter your assumptions, then calculate.

Formula: Rows × average bytes per row × overhead multiplier / 1,000,000,000
An approximation. Types, compression, indexes, replication and the database engine affect actual storage. Include those effects deliberately in your multiplier; it is not a measured capacity forecast.

02

Pipeline throughput estimate

Turn measured effective throughput and fixed overhead into an elapsed-time estimate.

Enter your assumptions, then calculate.

Formula: Data volume × 1,000 / measured MB per second / 60 + fixed overhead
Uses decimal GB and MB. Enter measured effective throughput, not a link speed. Contention, throttling, retries and changing data characteristics can change elapsed time; this is not a service-level guarantee.

Make the assumptions useful

  1. Confirm whether your measurements use decimal or binary units.
  2. Use a representative sample and observation period.
  3. Capture compression, retry and concurrency assumptions explicitly.
  4. Compare the estimate with a small measured run before scaling.

Your data and calculation method

Inputs, results and notes are processed in this browser. No scenario data is uploaded. Save stores one scenario per hub in this browser profile; anyone using the profile may be able to read it. Delete saved removes that copy. Exported files remain yours to manage.

Exact decimal inputs; rational arithmetic; final result rounded to 2 places, half away from zero. Blank inputs stay unknown. Each calculator uses the units shown; money is USD and no currency conversion is performed.

Report values are estimates from your assumptions. They do not establish market prices, certifications, earnings or guaranteed outcomes. Privacy and terms apply to the site.
